The market will likely view Kaspersky Lab's expansion into India positively, indicating growth in the cybersecurity sector and increased investment in emerging markets. This move could also highlight the growing importance of India as a tech hub and the increasing demand for cybersecurity solutions globally.
Global cybersecurity firm Kaspersky Lab is significantly increasing its investments in India, planning to establish the country as a regional hub for its marketing, business development, and cloud operations. This strategic move follows stronger-than-expected financial performance in 2024 and projected even better results for 2025. Adrian Hia, Managing Director of Kaspersky Lab (APAC), stated that the company intends to double down on its presence, potentially leading to increased hiring, especially if a data center is established in India. Hia also addressed the escalating cyber threat landscape, warning that cyber-attacks are expected to worsen in 2026 due to the accessibility of AI tools, necessitating the use of AI to combat these threats. He praised the Indian government's 'tiering of data' strategy but cautioned about the cybersecurity risks associated with India's interconnected digital systems and the need for nations to manage threats related to localized sovereign Large Language Models (LLMs). Kaspersky Lab also identified 'SOC as a Service' as a key trend in the cost-sensitive Indian market, with many enterprises seeking 'as-a-service' models for better security at lower costs. Hia also advised individuals to upgrade their skills in response to AI-driven job displacement.
