India's IOS SAGAR 2026 Naval Exercise

The second edition of the Indian Ocean Ship (IOS) SAGAR initiative commenced on March 16, 2026, reaffirming India's commitment to collaborative maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region. This initiative, led by the India===Indian Navy, follows India's assumption of the chairmanship of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) in February 2026. The program involves naval personnel from 16 IONS member nations training and sailing together onboard an Indian Naval ship, including INS Sunayna. The training covers naval operations, seamanship, and maritime security, aiming to enhance interoperability, foster professional exchanges, and build a shared understanding of maritime operations.
