The completion of the sale of Iveco's Defence Business to Leonardo (company) is expected to positively impact both companies, with Iveco distributing a significant dividend and Leonardo (company) strengthening its position in the land defence market. This event also clears a path for Tata Motors' tender offer for Iveco.
Iveco N.V. has completed the transfer of full ownership of its Defence Business, including the Iveco Group===Iveco and Iveco Group===Astra Veicoli Industriali brands, to Leonardo (company) for a sale price of €1.6 billion. This transaction, initially announced in July 2025, aims to create a stronger European player in the land defence segment. As a result of the sale, Iveco plans to distribute an extraordinary interim dividend of approximately €5.7-5.8 per share to its shareholders in April 2026. The separation of the Defence Business was also a prerequisite for the voluntary tender offer by Tata Motors Limited for Iveco's common shares. The Extraordinary General Meeting of Iveco shareholders will discuss the dividend distribution on March 25, 2026.
