The 10th meeting of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Committee, chaired by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, approved a proposal to convert municipal waste into fuel in Pakistan===Peshawar, Pakistan===Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This project aims to utilize modern technology to transform Pakistan===Peshawar's solid waste into Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF), which will be used as an alternative to coal in the Cement. The initiative is expected to significantly reduce waste accumulation at landfill sites, curb environmental pollution, and lower greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, it is projected to reduce reliance on imported coal, save foreign exchange, and create new employment opportunities. The project will establish advanced material recovery and processing facilities at the Shamshato landfill site. To ensure transparency, the unsolicited proposal from a private company will be floated in the market for competitive bidding. This project is seen as a major step towards environmentally sustainable waste management and overall economic improvement for Pakistan===Peshawar and Pakistan===Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
