The record-high defence exports from India signal a positive shift in its global defence market position, potentially boosting investor confidence in India's defence manufacturing sector. This growth reflects increased demand for Indian-made defence products and strengthens India's economic outlook.
India has achieved a historic milestone in defence exports, reaching an all-time high of Rs 38,424 crore in the financial year 2025-26, marking a significant growth of 62.66% over the previous fiscal year. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded this achievement, attributing it to growing global trust in India's indigenous capabilities and advanced manufacturing strength. Both public and private sectors contributed to this success, with Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) accounting for 54.84% and private industry contributing 45.16% of exports. The number of exporters increased to 145, and India is now exporting defence equipment to more than 80 countries. The India===Ministry of Defence (India) also fully utilized its capital outlay and expanded its procurement pipeline, indicating a robust defence industrial base and policy support.
