The initiative aims to advance African health and economic sovereignty. The panel's work will be supported by a High-Level Consultative Group, engaging major global institutions such as the World Health Organization, World Trade Organization, Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, African Union===Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, African Union===AUDA-NEPAD, and the World Bank Group===International Finance Corporation. Notable members include Mohammed Pate, John Nkengasong, and Soumya Swaminathan, with Michel Sidibé appointed as Special Advisor. The panel is expected to commence work immediately, with its terms of reference to be refined in collaboration with international platforms including the World Health Assembly and the United Nations General Assembly.
