The United Arab Emirates's entry into the top 10 global exporters signifies its growing economic influence and diversification beyond oil, positively impacting global trade and supply chains. However, the World Trade Organization's forecast of a slowdown in global trade due to geopolitical tensions and rising energy prices could temper future growth.
The United Arab Emirates has achieved a historic milestone by ranking among the world's top 10 exporting countries for the first time, according to the World Trade Organization's 'World Trade Prospects and Statistics' report. In 2025, the United Arab Emirates climbed to 9th in global goods exports and 13th in goods imports. Its total goods and services trade reached $1.637 trillion, with a record trade surplus of Dh584.1 billion. This success is attributed to the United Arab Emirates's proactive economic and trade policies, including the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement program, which has expanded its trade partner network. Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, highlighted the nation's competitiveness and global confidence in its economy. The report also noted exceptional growth in the United Arab Emirates's foreign trade in services, exceeding Dh1 trillion for the first time, and significant contributions to digital services exports. Despite global challenges like geopolitical tensions and rising energy prices, the United Arab Emirates is committed to open economic policies, sustainability, and innovation to maintain its upward trade trajectory.
