Swan Defence and Heavy Industries Limited (SDHI) has secured a landmark order from Energy One Limited to construct four 92,500-deadweight tonne ammonia dual-fuel bulk carriers. This Rs 3,000 crore order marks the first time such advanced vessels will be built in India, representing a significant leap in the nation's shipbuilding capabilities and its commitment to lower-emission shipping. The vessels, designed by KMS-EMEC and classed by DNV, will be equipped with ammonia-fueled propulsion systems. The first delivery is expected in October 2029, with subsequent deliveries at four-month intervals. This project is part of New Energy One's broader $2 billion investment program in zero-emission ships, with an MoU also signed with India===Sagarmala Finance Corporation Limited for co-investment in green shipping projects.
