The semiconductor market experienced significant growth in 2025, with global equipment billings reaching a record $135.1 billion, driven by strong demand for AI, advanced logic, and memory. This indicates a robust and expanding industry, particularly in Asian markets like Taiwan and South Korea, while Europe and North America saw declines.
SEMI reported that worldwide sales of semiconductor manufacturing equipment increased 15% to a record $135.1 billion in 2025, up from $117.1 billion in 2024. This growth was primarily driven by continued investment in advanced logic, memory, and AI-related capacity expansion. The front-end semiconductor equipment market saw solid growth, with wafer processing equipment sales increasing 12%. The back-end equipment segment also recorded strong growth, with test equipment billings surging 55% and assembly and packaging equipment sales rising 21%. Regionally, Asia dominated spending, with China, Taiwan, and South Korea accounting for 79% of the global market. Taiwan experienced a 90% increase in spending, reaching a record $31.5 billion, while South Korea saw a 26% increase. Europe and North America, however, experienced declines in spending.
