Nigeria's National Assembly Pledges Military Support

The Nigeria===House of Representatives (Nigeria), through its Deputy Spokesperson Philip Agbese, has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting the Nigeria===Nigerian Armed Forces in their ongoing fight against terrorism and banditry across Nigeria. This pledge follows a recent deadly attack by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province fighters on Nigeria===Nigerian Armed Forces troops in Benisheikh, Nigeria===Borno State, which resulted in the death of Brigadier General Oseni Braimah and other soldiers. The 10th National Assembly will provide necessary legislative backing, funding, and oversight to strengthen the military's capacity and other security agencies. Lawmakers emphasized prioritizing defense and security in their legislative agenda, ensuring adequate budgetary provisions, improving military personnel welfare, and strengthening intelligence-gathering mechanisms. They also committed to robust oversight of defense spending for transparency and effective resource utilization. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu also extended condolences and reaffirmed his administration's support.
