The India===Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has initiated a comprehensive mid-life refurbishment program for 70 of its oldest trains operating on the Red and Blue Lines. These trains, inducted between 2002 and 2007, have completed nearly two decades of service and are being upgraded to meet modern technological and safety standards. The refurbishment, expected to be completed by November 2027, is being carried out in three phases. So far, 31 trains have been upgraded. The enhancements include repainting interiors, upgrading electrical panels, installing state-of-the-art IP-based Passenger Announcement and Information Systems (PA-PIS), CCTV systems, LCD-based Dynamic Route Maps, and advanced fire detection systems. Additionally, mobile and laptop charging points are being added to all coaches.
