The assassination attempt on Amir Hamza, a prominent figure in Lashkar-e-Taiba, could lead to increased geopolitical tensions and security concerns, particularly in Pakistan and India. This event may prompt a re-evaluation of counter-terrorism strategies and potentially impact defense and security sector investments.
Amir Hamza, a co-founder and senior ideologue of the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was shot by unknown assailants in Pakistan===Lahore, Pakistan. The incident occurred outside a news channel office, and Hamza is currently in critical condition. He co-founded LeT with Hafiz Saeed between 1985 and 1986 and has been linked to numerous terror activities in India and globally. The United States has designated him as a terrorist. Hamza was known for his role in LeT's propaganda, fundraising, and external relations. In 2018, he reportedly distanced himself from Lashkar-e-Taiba after a government crackdown on its funding and later founded a splinter group, Jaish-e-Mohammed, to continue funding terror operations, including in Jammu and Kashmir. This is the second attack on Hamza in less than a year.
