Nigeria's ECoN Initiative Launched in Kano

The Federal Government of Nigeria is launching the 'Energise Commercialisation Now' (ECoN) initiative in Nigeria===Kano State from April 23 to 25, 2026. This three-day program, spearheaded by the Nigeria===Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, aims to translate research outputs from universities and polytechnics into commercial products for industrial use and economic growth. First Lady Remi Tinubu will officially unveil the initiative. Nigeria===Kano State, through Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Commissioner Ibrahim Waiya, is hosting the national launch and North-West zonal rollout, positioning the region at the forefront of Nigeria's innovation-led economy. The event will feature political leadership discussions, innovation exhibitions, technical evaluations, and investment deal rooms, connecting innovators with investors and manufacturers. The initiative seeks to address the gap between research and market, provide IP advisory, facilitate access to finance, and prepare local innovators for international trade platforms like IATF 2027. All seven North-West states, including Nigeria===Kaduna State, Nigeria===Katsina State, Nigeria===Kebbi State, Nigeria===Sokoto State, Nigeria===Jigawa State, and Nigeria===Zamfara State, will participate by showcasing innovations.
