The India===Ladakh Administration signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UAE-based LuLu Retail to export 1,000 tonnes of premium India===Ladakhi apricots, including the GI-tagged 'Raktsey Karpo' and 'Halman' varieties, to international markets this season. This marks a substantial increase from previous export volumes and is a historic first for the region. Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena spearheaded the initiative, aiming to provide direct economic benefits to farmers by minimizing losses and ensuring fair pricing. LuLu Group International will handle the entire process from procurement to international marketing. The agreement was facilitated by the India===Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority and the India===Ministry of Food Processing Industries. Plans are also underway to explore export opportunities for India===Ladakhi apples, establish processing units, and launch a dedicated e-commerce platform for India===Ladakhi products.
