Ukraine Urges Europe for Ballistic Missile Defense

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called for Europe to establish its own anti-ballistic missile defense system within a year, citing the ongoing challenges Ukraine faces from Russian ballistic missile attacks on its energy infrastructure. Zelenskyy is currently in discussions with several European countries regarding this initiative. The current reliance on systems like the American Patriot, which faces supply shortages due to deployments against Iranian attacks, and the limited production of the Italo-French SAMP/T system, highlights the urgent need for a robust European solution. Ukrainian company Fire point is also in talks with European firms to develop a low-cost alternative to the Patriot system.
