The market for international data transfers is positively impacted by increased legal certainty and trust. Companies involved in data processing will see simplified compliance and potential competitive advantages.
The European Union===European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has made two significant decisions regarding Europrivacy. Firstly, it approved the extension of Europrivacy, the European Data Protection Seal of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), for use in non-European countries. This allows companies worldwide subject to the GDPR to demonstrate compliance. Secondly, the EDPB approved a specific version of Europrivacy criteria to be used as a mechanism for international data transfers under Article 46 GDPR. This development strengthens legal certainty and promotes trust in cross-border data flows, supporting data importers outside the EEA in meeting GDPR requirements. This move also aligns with Interprivacy, an international data protection certification scheme approved by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) for global use.
