Nigeria's Poverty Reduction Initiative

The Nigerian government, under President Bola Tinubu, has launched the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme, a grassroots initiative aimed at reducing poverty and improving living standards for approximately 10 million Nigerians. The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Bagudu, announced this program, which will support key economic activities across the country's 8,809 wards. Bagudu was also appointed Grand Patron of the National Councillors Forum of Nigeria, an organization that supports the government's reform agenda. The program seeks to identify dominant commercial endeavors in each ward and provide targeted support. While the International Monetary Fund has cautioned about potential economic hardships for Nigerians, the government remains committed to these reforms to achieve inclusive growth.
