The Karnataka Co-operative Milk Producers Federation (Karnataka Co-operative Milk Producers Federation) has increased both the procurement and retail prices of milk. Retail prices for various milk variants have risen by Rs 4 per litre, effective from May 3, 2026. Concurrently, the procurement price for dairy farmers has been raised by Rs 1 per litre for cow milk and Rs 1.60 per litre for buffalo milk, effective from May 1, 2026. This decision, announced by Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik, is attributed to the rising costs of inputs such as cattle feed, fodder, medicines, and processing and transportation expenses. The move aims to support the livelihoods of approximately three lakh dairy farmers in India — Odisha and ensure the sustainable growth of the state's dairy sector.
