Nigeria Customs Seizes Cannabis Indica

The Nigeria — Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), specifically its Tin Can Island Port Command, in collaboration with the Nigeria — National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has intercepted multiple large consignments of illicit drugs, primarily Cannabis, at the Lagos Port Complex. The seizures, valued at N16.694 billion and N18.916 billion respectively, were made through intelligence sharing and thorough physical examinations of containers originating from Canada. The containers were falsely declared as used vehicles and subjected to multiple route changes by traffickers to evade detection. Key figures like Frank Onyeka of the Nigeria — Nigeria Customs Service, Ibinabo Archie Abia of the Nigeria — National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and Mohammed Buba Marwa were commended for their roles in strengthening inter-agency cooperation. International partners including United States — United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the United States — Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Canada — Royal Canadian Mounted Police also contributed to the intelligence gathering. The seized drugs have been handed over to the Nigeria — National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation and legal forfeiture procedures.
