Delhi approves teacher pay hike

The India — Delhi Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, approved a substantial pay hike for approximately 1,131 vocational teachers and teachers at 784 centers under the India — National Education Mission. Vocational teachers will now receive Rs 38,100 per month, up from Rs 20,000-23,000, while India — National Education Mission teachers' salaries increased from Rs 21,000 to Rs 35,420 per month. This decision also covers teachers at Special Training Centres. Rekha Gupta stated that the move aims to provide financial security, boost morale, and recognize the dedication of teachers working in challenging conditions to bring out-of-school children back into the education system. The revised pay brings India — National Education Mission teachers on par with primary and upper primary teachers, reflecting the India — Delhi government's commitment to strengthening its education framework.
