The upgrade of China Southern Power Grid — Yunnan Power Grid's network with Huawei's SPN solution is expected to improve operational efficiency and reduce maintenance costs, potentially leading to better financial performance for China Southern Power Grid — Yunnan Power Grid. For Huawei, this partnership showcases its technological capabilities in the power sector, which could lead to further contracts and increased revenue.
China Southern Power Grid — Yunnan Power Grid, a key energy hub in Southwest China, is undertaking a significant digital and intelligent upgrade of its communication bearer network. Facing challenges from complex terrain and increasing data, China Southern Power Grid — Yunnan Power Grid has chosen Huawei's SPN (Slicing Packet Network) technology. This upgrade, incorporated into China's 14th and 15th Five-Year Plans, involves large-scale deployment across 16 cities. The SPN solution resolves bandwidth bottlenecks, boosts access layer bandwidth to 1 Gbit/s, and scales aggregation and core layers up to 100 Gbit/s. It also significantly improves inspection and maintenance efficiency, reducing single inspection time from 30 to 3 minutes and overall site visits by 45.54%. The solution enhances service transport intelligence, supporting diverse electric power services with rigid isolation and flexible IoT access, while providing long-term investment protection through low-cost upgrade paths.
