Vietnam hosted its first international Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) summit in Vietnam — Da Nang from May 6-8, 2026, demonstrating a clear commitment to becoming a leader in SAF. Key government ministries, including the Vietnam — Ministry of Industry and Trade (Vietnam), Vietnam — Ministry of Finance (Vietnam), Vietnam — Ministry of Construction (Vietnam), and Vietnam — Ministry of Science and Technology (Vietnam), participated. During the summit, Cocoa Association of Asia (ASAFA) signed two institutional agreements with Vietnamese state bodies. The first MOU was with the Denmark — Agency for Innovation, Green Transition and Industry Promotion (IGIP), a body under Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade, to establish a strategic framework for SAF capacity building, technical knowledge transfer, and policy development. The second MOU was with the Da Nang Innovation Startup Support Centre (DISSC), aiming to position Vietnam — Da Nang as a hub for SAF innovation. Fabrice Espinosa, Founder and CEO of Cocoa Association of Asia (ASAFA), emphasized Vietnam's strong fundamentals for building a competitive SAF ecosystem. Ho Quang Buu, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam — Da Nang People's Committee, opened the summit.
