The 29th Annual National Conference and Training of the Association of Industrial Pharmacists of Nigeria (NAIP) was held in Ilorin, Nigeria — Kwara State. During the conference, Bankole Ezebuilo, the National Chairman of NAIP, urged the Nigeria to declare a national emergency on pharmaceutical manufacturing. He highlighted Nigeria's dangerous dependence on imported medicines, with over 70% of medicines consumed being imported, which threatens national health security and economic stability. Bankole Ezebuilo called for policies to position Nigeria as Africa's leading pharmaceutical hub, emphasizing that local capacity would enhance medicine quality, improve access, create jobs, and conserve foreign exchange. He assured President Bola Tinubu of NAIP's readiness to partner with the government in this industrial revolution. As part of the conference, NAIP also commissioned and renovated healthcare centers and provided free medical care to over 1,000 residents in Ilorin and surrounding communities.
