Green Building Initiative (GBI) announced the planned departure of its CEO, Vicki Worden, who will leave in late June 2026 to take on a new CEO role. The Green Building Initiative's Board of Directors, chaired by Sumayyah Theron, has appointed Stephen T. Ayers as the Interim CEO. Stephen T. Ayers is a nationally recognized leader with prior interim chief executive roles at the National Institute of Building Sciences and the Nigerian Institute of Architects, and previously served as the United States — Architect of the Capitol, appointed by Barack Obama and confirmed by the United States Senate.
