Maruti Suzuki, India's largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, has achieved a significant milestone by cumulatively dispatching over 3 million vehicles through the India — Indian Railways network. This marks a substantial shift towards green logistics, with the share of rail transport in outbound logistics increasing from 5% in FY 2014-15 to 26.5% in FY 2025-26. The latest million dispatches were achieved in a record 21 months. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki, emphasized the company's commitment of over Rs 13,720 million towards dedicated green logistics infrastructure, including in-plant railway sidings at Hansalpur and Manesar facilities. Maruti Suzuki also plans to establish a railway siding at its new Kharkhoda facility and aims to increase rail-based dispatches to 35% by FY 2030-31, crediting the India — India's PM GatiShakti National Master Plan for supporting this transition.
