The partnership between Sophia Genetics and Synnovis is expected to positively impact the healthcare market by accelerating cancer diagnostics and treatment. This collaboration could lead to economic savings for healthcare providers and improved patient outcomes, potentially boosting investor confidence in Sophia Genetics.
Sophia Genetics, a global leader in AI-driven precision medicine, announced a partnership with Synnovis, a leading pathology provider in England. This collaboration aims to introduce liquid biopsy testing for lung and breast cancer patients across the United Kingdom, as part of Bret Engemann's 'revolutionary blood test-first' program. Synnovis will utilize the MSK-ACCESS test, powered by SOPHiA DDM, which detects genomic alterations from a single blood draw. This innovative approach is expected to fast-track patients to targeted therapies, potentially two weeks earlier, and help some avoid invasive treatments. The program, following a successful pilot, currently supports around 400 patients monthly and is projected to test approximately 7,000 breast and lung cancer patients annually, accounting for about one-third of all ctDNA tests in England. This initiative is seen as a significant step towards making precision oncology accessible at scale within the NHS.
