The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is set to integrate Artificial intelligence, Analytics, Environmental, social, and governance, and sustainability into its Chartered Accountancy (CA) curriculum. This decision, driven by the evolving technological and professional landscape, aims to equip lakhs of students and over five lakh members with essential modern skills. Prasanna Kumar Roy, President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, highlighted the necessity of these subjects for chartered accountants to thrive in employment and practice. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has formed the Committee for Review of Education and Training (CRET) to review the syllabus, practical training, soft skills, communication, and examination methods. The CRET is expected to finalize its recommendations by December, with the updated curriculum anticipated to be implemented by 2028.
