The acquisition of AmbioPharm by CordenPharma is expected to positively impact the pharmaceutical and biotechnology markets by increasing global capacity for complex peptide API manufacturing. This expansion will provide customers with broader choices and more flexible supply options, potentially accelerating drug development and commercialization.
CordenPharma, a global Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO), has entered into an agreement to acquire AmbioPharm, a U.S.-headquartered peptide API CDMO with facilities in North Augusta, South Carolina (United States) and Shanghai (China). This acquisition significantly expands CordenPharma's peptide API development and manufacturing capabilities, particularly for complex peptide programs. The deal will add capacity for U.S.-based peptide API supply and integrate Shanghai-based production into CordenPharma's global network. AmbioPharm's shareholders will reinvest into the combined business, reflecting confidence in the expanded Peptides Platform. The transaction, whose financial terms were not disclosed, is subject to customary closing conditions. This move is part of CordenPharma's strategic objective to be a leading peptide manufacturing partner, supported by its owner Astorg, and will enhance its global Peptides Platform across three continents.
