The enhanced defense cooperation between India and Singapore, particularly in advanced technologies like cybersecurity and AI, is expected to positively impact the defense industries of both nations. This collaboration could lead to increased investment in defense technology and potentially new contracts for companies involved in these sectors.
India and Singapore held their 16th Defence Policy Dialogue, co-chaired by India's Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar and Singapore's Permanent Secretary (Defence) Joseph Leong. The dialogue focused on strengthening strategic defense ties, security collaboration, and exploring new avenues for cooperation in emerging domains of warfare such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, maritime security, unmanned systems, and advanced defense technologies. Rajesh Kumar also visited the Digital Operations Technology Centre of the Singapore — Singapore Armed Forces to gain insights into Singapore's digital and technical capabilities. Both nations reaffirmed their robust bilateral defense partnership and commitment to an open, inclusive, and rule-based regional security architecture, particularly within ASEAN-led mechanisms and the ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting Plus framework. The discussions were also guided by the Joint Statement on the Roadmap for the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Singapore, issued after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong.
