This event demonstrates India's continued commitment to regional stability and development, which can positively influence investor confidence in India's foreign policy and its relationship with Nepal. For Nepal, the aid directly supports reconstruction efforts, potentially boosting its construction sector and improving social infrastructure, which could have long-term positive economic effects.
India has pledged Nepal — Nepalese rupees 560.2 million for the construction of 14 earthquake-resilient schools in eight districts of Nepal, including Gorkha, Nuwakot, Dhading, Dolakha, Kathmandu, Kavrepalanchowk, Ramechhap, and Sindhupalchok. These districts were severely affected by the devastating 2015 earthquake. The Central Level Project Implementation Unit-Education under Nepal's Ministry of Education and Sports signed agreements for the project, which is part of India's ongoing post-disaster reconstruction assistance to Nepal. The new schools will adhere to Nepal's earthquake-resilient building norms and will include academic blocks, furnished classrooms, and separate sanitation facilities. This initiative follows previous Indian support, such as the completion and handover of 70 schools and the Tribhuvan University Central Library in January 2024.
