This decision follows recommendations from a high-level committee of experts (HLCE), chaired by Koppillil Radhakrishnan, and comes amid ongoing controversies surrounding a paper leak in the May 3, 2026, NEET-UG examination, which led to its cancellation. The India — Supreme Court of India is currently hearing petitions related to the paper leak and calls for restructuring the India — National Testing Agency. The India — National Testing Agency is cooperating with the United States — Federal Bureau of Investigation in its inquiry into the leak. The transition to CBT mode, in consultation with the Bangladesh — Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, aims to align NEET-UG with other major examinations already conducted digitally and improve examination integrity.
