Lagos State Reintroduces Sanitation

The Nigeria — Government of Lagos State has reintroduced and committed to a monthly environmental sanitation exercise across the state, aiming to foster a culture of voluntary cleanliness among residents. Key officials, including Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, Tokunbo Wahab, Rotimi Akodu, and Bode Agoro, participated in and monitored the second edition of the exercise in areas like Nigeria — Alimosho Local Government Area and Nigeria — Apapa. The government emphasized that the initiative is a permanent feature and focuses on persuasion rather than imposing movement restrictions, despite some initial non-compliance from commercial vehicle operators and residents. The goal is to improve public health and reduce airborne diseases through a cleaner environment.
