Kaduna Police Recover 245 Cattle

The Nigeria — Kaduna State Police Command, in collaboration with local vigilantes and community members, successfully foiled two separate cattle rustling and kidnapping attempts in Igabi and Kudan Local Government Areas. These operations, carried out on May 31, 2026, led to the recovery of 245 stolen cattle and the rescue of abducted herders. In one incident, bandits invaded a Fulani settlement, tying up cattle rearers and guards before rustling a large number of cattle. The incident was reported by the Chairman of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore in Igabi LGA, prompting a coordinated pursuit by police, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore vigilantes, and the Civilian Joint Task Force, which forced the bandits to abandon over 200 cattle and their captives. In a separate operation in Hunkuyi, 45 additional cattle were recovered after a combined team of police and the Nigeria — Kaduna State Vigilance Service engaged armed bandits in a shootout. Commissioner of Police Rabiu Muhammad commended the collaborative efforts, emphasizing the effectiveness of intelligence-driven and community-based policing in combating criminal activities in Nigeria — Kaduna State, a region significantly affected by banditry and kidnapping.
