Haryana launches AI Sandbox in Gurugram

India — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini launched the India — Haryana AI Sandbox in Gurugram, a platform designed to leverage Artificial Intelligence for public welfare, good governance, and Antyodaya. This initiative aims to create a collaborative environment where government departments can present challenges, and innovators, researchers, startups, and technology companies can develop and test AI-driven solutions in a secure setting. The AI Sandbox will initially focus on five priority sectors, including public grievance handling, school education planning, road infrastructure maintenance, healthcare imaging services, and water and sewerage management, with plans for future expansion into agriculture, urban development, and transport. The World Bank Group, through its Acting Country Director for India Paul Procee, has pledged full support to India — Haryana in strengthening AI skills and capabilities, including funding for selected initiatives. Leading technology professionals from Alphabet Inc., Amazon — Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft were honored at the event, with these hyperscalers also expressing interest in providing pro bono access to cloud computing infrastructure for innovators.
