Shell Gulf of Mexico MiQ Certified

MiQ, a global leader in methane emissions certification, has certified Shell plc's entire production portfolio in the Gulf of Mexico with its top methane emissions performance grade, Grade A. This makes Shell plc the first operator to achieve such certification in the basin. The certification involved a third-party audit of Shell plc's 10 production assets, demonstrating low methane intensity and robust monitoring programs. This milestone also marks MiQ's first certification covering offshore crude oil production, extending its framework beyond natural gas. Shell plc, a founding signatory of the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership (OGMP) 2.0, has significantly reduced its methane emissions in the Gulf of Mexico while increasing production. Georges Tijbosch, CEO of MiQ, and Mahamat Abdelsalam, Shell plc's VP for Safety and Environment for the Gulf of Mexico, both highlighted the importance of this achievement for emissions transparency and operational excellence.
