The acquisition by Abu Dhabi Ports Group is expected to positively impact the logistics and agriculture sectors by enhancing global trade routes, particularly linking Brazil to the Indian Subcontinent, East Africa, and Southeast Asia. This strategic expansion strengthens Abu Dhabi Ports Group's market position and could lead to increased efficiency and capacity in agri-bulk handling, benefiting global commodity markets.
Abu Dhabi Ports Group has acquired Corredor Logística e Infraestrutura (CLI), Brazil's leading independent agri-bulk port terminal operator, for AED 3.1 billion ($835 million). This acquisition marks Abu Dhabi Ports Group's entry into the Latin American market and is its largest acquisition to date. CLI operates two key agri-bulk export terminals, CLI Sul at the Brazil — Port of Santos and CLI Norte at the Porto do Itaqui, which are crucial for Brazil's agricultural exports, including sugar, corn, and soybeans. The transaction, expected to close in the second half of 2025, will position Abu Dhabi Ports Group as a leading independent agri-bulk terminal operator in South America, expanding its maritime, shipping, logistics, and digital services. The existing senior management team of CLI will remain in place. This move aligns with Abu Dhabi Ports Group's strategy to develop new East-West trade links connecting Brazil to the Indian Subcontinent, East Africa, and Southeast Asia, and supports the United Arab Emirates' negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with Mercosur.
