The successful 'Mango Magic' event and rapid sales of Indian mangoes at Costco indicate strong consumer demand and a growing market for Indian agricultural products in the United States. This positive trend is expected to boost export values for India and potentially increase revenue for retailers like Costco.
The second edition of 'Mango Magic: Promotion and Tasting Event of Indian Mangoes' was held in Seattle, organized by the India — Consulate General of India, San Francisco in partnership with the India — Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority. The event showcased seven premium Indian mango varieties to over 100 importers and retailers, including senior executives from Costco. Washington Lieutenant Governor Denny Heck and other dignitaries attended. Efforts to introduce Indian mangoes to the US market gained momentum after a meeting with Costco CEO Ron Vachris in April 2026, leading to the introduction of Bhagwa pomegranates and Kesar mangoes. Costco reported that Indian Kesar mangoes sold out within two hours in stores across Greater Seattle, Las Vegas, New Jersey, and Greater Los Angeles. India, the world's largest mango producer, saw its mango exports to the United States increase by 130% to $10 million in FY 2023-24, with the overall US mango import market exceeding $1 billion in 2025.
