Nestlé Nigeria has launched a multi-stakeholder coalition to drive sustained environmental action in commemoration of 2026 World Environment Day. This initiative, building on six years of nationwide awareness and clean-up efforts, brings together government agencies like the Nigeria — Federal Ministry of Interior (Nigeria), Nigeria — National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency, Nigeria — Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, and Nigeria — Lagos Waste Management Authority, along with industry platforms and development partners such as the Switzerland — Consulate and the Netherlands. The program will be delivered across 12 locations nationwide through community sensitisation and clean-up activities, aiming to reduce waste leakage, strengthen collection systems, and scale circular solutions. Nestlé Nigeria has already recovered over 60,000 metric tons of plastic for recycling since 2019 through partners like Chanja Datti, Wecyclers, and MECOM, and over 12,000kg through its Employee Plastics Collection Scheme since 2022. The coalition reinforces Nestlé Nigeria's commitment to plastics neutrality and responsible packaging, demonstrating a scalable model for public-private collaboration in addressing environmental challenges in Nigeria.
