In commemoration of World Environment Day 2026, the Rabo Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of United Bank for Africa (UBA) Group, launched its 2026 Tree Planting for Sustainability Initiative. This initiative involved a tree-planting exercise at two historic Nigeria — Lagos educational institutions, King s College London and CMS Grammar School, to promote environmental consciousness among young people and encourage climate-positive action. Managing Director/CEO of Rabo Foundation, Bola Atta, emphasized the strategic investment in the future, while UBA's Group Chief Risk Officer, Awele Ajibola, highlighted the importance of proactive environmental stewardship in addressing climate-related risks. The initiative is part of United Bank for Africa's broader commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and includes other activities like joining the Finance Taskforce for Plastic Action in Nigeria and launching Sustainability Clubs in schools. Principals Jacob Ayokunle Ogunyinka and Magaji Zachariah commended the program for its practical extension of environmental education.
