The alleged diversion of 36.9 billion naira from the Nigeria — Kogi State Security Operation Account could lead to a significant negative impact on investor confidence in Nigeria's governance and financial transparency. It may also affect the creditworthiness of Nigeria — Kogi State and potentially other Nigerian states if systemic issues are revealed.
The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), the Nigerian chapter of Transparency International, has raised serious concerns over the alleged diversion and misappropriation of 36.9 billion naira from the Nigeria — Kogi State Security Operation Account. Financial intelligence findings indicate that approximately 23.7 billion naira was transferred to Real Striker Finance Limited, a company allegedly linked to politically exposed persons, including a former Security Adviser to former Governor Yahaya Bello. Additional billions were reportedly disbursed to various individuals and corporate entities like Abdullahi Ayisat Omonale, Peter Enehezeyi Ozavize, Dange Security Patrol, and IHS Nigeria Limited, without clear public justification. CISLAC has called for immediate and comprehensive investigations by the Nigeria — Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Nigeria — Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), and the India — Financial Intelligence Unit – India (NFIU). They demand a forensic audit, identification of beneficiaries, recovery of diverted funds, and prosecution of all culpable individuals and entities. The organization also urged Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to cooperate fully with investigators, highlighting the broader issue of transparency and accountability in Nigeria's security vote system.
