JSW Group has received a Letter of Award from the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee for the integrated development of the outer container terminal and berths at Netaji Subhas Dock (NSD) at the Kolkata Dock System. This project, awarded on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis under a Public-Private Partnership framework, aims to enhance container handling capacity, improve operational efficiency, and support growing trade volumes in the region. The 30-year concession agreement will be executed in two phases, creating a total capacity of approximately 0.93 million TEUs. This new award, combined with a previous project for berths 7 and 8, will expand JSW Group's combined container handling capacity at the Kolkata Dock System to about 1.4 million TEUs, with an overall capacity reaching 1.8 million TEUs upon completion of all identified container growth projects. The development addresses existing capacity constraints, improves berth productivity, and enhances vessel turnaround times at one of India's key eastern gateway ports.
