The Nigeria — Tertiary Education Trust Fund>>> (TETFund) has awarded N7.5 billion in research grants to 174 research teams across Nigerian tertiary institutions under the 2025 National Research Fund (NRF) Grant Cycle. Sonny Echono>>>, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, announced the grants, which followed a rigorous selection process involving concept note submissions, full proposal evaluations, and oral defenses. The grants, ranging from N13.7 million to N49.98 million, cover critical sectors such as health, agriculture, science, engineering, energy, and national defense. The initiative aims to leverage research and innovation as catalysts for economic transformation in Nigeria>>>. Institutions like Federal University of Technology, Minna, Federal University of Technology Owerri, and Ahmadu Bello University were among the top beneficiaries. TETFund also highlighted that over 55 patents have emerged from its supported research in the last two years, with some attracting international investors. The agency plans to host a National Research Fair in November to connect researchers with investors and industry stakeholders, further strengthening the link between academia and industry.
