Renesas Electronics Corporation has expanded its strategic collaboration with GlobalFoundries, gaining broader access to GlobalFoundries' technology portfolio. This partnership ensures a stable, long-term supply of semiconductors, which is crucial for its automotive, industrial IoT, and other applications. Renesas Electronics will benefit from enhanced manufacturing resilience and support for future capacity needs, potentially including porting GlobalFoundries process technologies into its in-house fabs in Japan.

Renesas Electronics is divesting certain assets related to its timing business to SiTime. This transaction allows Renesas Electronics to sharpen its focus on embedded compute leadership. Renesas Electronics' CEO, Hidetoshi Shibata, is expected to join SiTime's board of directors after the closing of the transaction.

Renesas Electronics provides Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools to academic institutions in India, contributing to the Chips to Startups program.
