The India===Ministry of External Affairs, in partnership with the European Union and the India===Government of Assam, organized a State Engagement Programme in Guwahati titled 'Linking India-EU Migration Opportunities and the Northeast Corridor'. This initiative, part of the India-EU Cooperation and Dialogue on Migration and Mobility (CDMM), aims to strengthen cooperation on regular migration, mobility, and the prevention of irregular migration. The program, held on February 12, affirmed commitment to the India-EU Common Agenda on Migration and Mobility, adopted in 2016. It seeks to open opportunities for prospective migrants from the North-East region to access European Union labor markets through legal pathways, while also recognizing the skilling requirements for destination countries. Key participants included Ravi Kota, Chief Secretary, India===Government of Assam, and representatives from various state governments, the European Union, and its Member States. Implementing partners for the CDMM project include the Indian Council of World Affairs, the International Centre for Migration Policy Development, and the International Labour Organization. A student outreach event is also planned at IIT Guwahati on February 13, 2026, to inform students about study and career opportunities in the European Union, with presentations from Germany and Italy.
