The agreement between Famar and GE HealthCare is expected to positively impact both companies. Famar will expand its manufacturing capabilities and market presence, while GE HealthCare will enhance its supply chain resilience and meet increasing demand for contrast media in Europe.
Famar, a European pharmaceutical Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO), has signed a contract manufacturing agreement with GE HealthCare. This agreement involves Famar filling and finishing vials of GE HealthCare's iodine-based contrast media at its newly acquired Homburg site in Germany. Commercial supply is slated to begin in 2028, with the Homburg site aiming to provide up to 25 million patient doses annually into GE HealthCare's supply network by 2031. This collaboration will enable GE HealthCare to expand its manufacturing capacity for European customers and increase the resiliency of its supply network. Famar acquired the Homburg site from MiP Pharma in September 2025 and plans to develop it into a multi-customer CDMO platform, strengthening its capabilities in aseptic and lyophilized fill & finish.
