The launch of AHZANTIVE by Sun Pharma is expected to positively impact Teva's stock due to portfolio expansion and market penetration in ophthalmology. Conversely, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, the developer of the reference product Eylea, may face increased competition and potential revenue pressure from this biosimilar entry.
Sun Pharma announced the launch of AHZANTIVE (aflibercept), a biosimilar to Eylea, in Europe. This launch, which began in May 2026 across markets including France, Germany, Spain, and The Netherlands, strengthens Teva's biosimilars portfolio and expands its presence in ophthalmology. AHZANTIVE received European Commission approval in 2025 for treating serious retinal diseases like Neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration (nAMD), Diabetic Macular Edema (DME), and Macular Edema following Retinal Vein Occlusion (RVO). The launch is part of Teva's Pivot to Growth strategy and follows a semi-exclusive commercialization agreement with Klinge Biopharma GmbH and Formycon AG.
