The launch of Cariqa Connect API is expected to positively impact the EV charging market by streamlining payment processes and fostering direct relationships between Charge Point Operators and mobility platforms. This could lead to increased adoption of EV charging services and more transparent pricing for consumers, potentially boosting the electric vehicle sector.
Cariqa, a direct payment infrastructure provider for EV charging, launched its Connect API on June 9, 2026. This new product allows mobility platforms, OEMs, fleets, and navigation apps to integrate public EV charging directly into their services. Unlike traditional reseller models, Cariqa Connect API connects demand partners directly to Cariqa's CPO network, enabling transparent commercial relationships, direct payment to CPOs, and revenue sharing for demand partners. This eliminates per-transaction fees and integration costs for demand partners, turning charging from a cost into a revenue stream. The API also ensures that CPO-set tariffs pass through unchanged to drivers, fostering brand trust and enabling dynamic pricing based on factors like time of day or grid load. Cariqa Connect API simplifies operational complexities like payments, VAT compliance, and e-invoicing, similar to how Stripe revolutionized embedded payments. The network covers over 900,000 charge points across Europe, with initial focus markets being Germany and Austria. Issam Tidjani, CEO of Cariqa, highlighted that the API realigns incentives, benefiting platforms, operators, and drivers.
